When steam is passed over red hot iron, among ferric hydroxide and hydrogen, magnetic iron oxide and hydrogen, ferrous hydroxide and hydrogen and ferrous oxide and hydrogen, the products we get are magnetic iron oxide and hydrogen.

Iron is not known to react with water readily at ordinary temperatures.

It reacts at a very high temperature when it is converted to steam.
