When the light entering from glass to Water, refractive index of water with respect to glass is 0.9. The angle of incidence at the surface seprating two media is 26°48’. Find the angle of refraction at the surface. Take sin 26°48’ = 0.45 approximately.Solve the given problem. (Ans: Angle of incidence = 30°)

Refractive Index of the water w.r.t glass = 0.9

Angle of Incidence(i) = 26°48’

∴ Using the formula,

Refractive Index = Sin i/Sin r

⇒ 0.9 = Sin 26°48’/Sin r

⇒ Sin r = 0.45/0.9

∴ Sin r = 0.5

⇒ Sin r = Sin 30°

On comparing,

r = 30 °

Hence, the angle of refraction is 30 °.

Hope it helps.
