Substance 'C' is inferred to be a compound.

Explanation:

  • As one of the conditions given in the question states that substance 'C' is formed due to the interaction of two elements A and B. Thus it is clear that substance 'C' is not an element.
  • As the formation of substance 'C' emits heat, it is not a mixture as the formation of the mixture doesn't releases any heat.
  • The properties of substance 'C' are different from those of A and B, which means that the substance 'C' is a compound.
