Vasco Da Gama first arrived in India at Kappadu near Calicut on 20 the May 1498. He was the 1st European to reach India. He started his journey from Europe with 4 boats. His mission was to connect the western world with the Eastern world. He was received by the king of Calicut. The king used to receive the foreign guests with great warmth. Vasco Da Gama stayed in India for around 3 months and left for his journey on 28th August 1498, with the arrival of monsoon.
