Major physical divisions:-
The Himalayan mountains
The northern plains
The peninsular plateau
The coastal plains
The Indian desert
The islands

Himalaya:- (i) Himadri:-it is northern most range of Himalayas and is known as the great Himalayas or inner Himalayas. It has an average height of 6,000 metres.
(ii) Himachal:- it is middle range of Himalayas and known as the lesser Himalayas. It has an average basis from 3700 metres to 4500 metres from sea level.
(iii) Shiwaliks:- it is the southern most range of Himalayas and known as the outer Himalayas. It has an average height varying between 900m to 1100.

Peninsular plateau :-

antaldisha1212: Peninsular plateau :- (i) the central highlands:- it is made up of hard igneous and metamorphic rocks. It comprises of the Malwa plateau, Bundelkhand plateau and Chotanagpur plateau.
