In 1838, an honorary doctorate in Civil Law from the University of Durham.
In 1839, the same honorary degree by the University of Oxford.
In 1842, a Civil List pension of £300 a year by the government.
From 6 April 1843 – 23 April 1850, Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom (England) by Victoria (former Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland).
