ln optics dispertion is the phenomena in which the phase velocity of a wave depends on its frequency.Media having this common property may be termed as dispersive media. Some time the term chromatic dispersion is used for specificity .

Now,if you allow a beam of white light to pass through a prism it will be devided into seven colours namely violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.Violet colour bends the most and red bends least .The waves bend or refrect more which has higher frequency.
Violet bends most because it has the highest frequency in the visible spectrum and red has the least.

Additional:-Optics is the branch of physics involved in the behaviour and properties of light, including its interaction with matter and construction of instruments that use or detect it.

Hope it helped.
