Which contains more heat? 1 kg of ice at 0 degree celsius or 2. 1 kg of water at 0 degree celsius . give reasons for my answers.

To heat 1kg of ice from 10°C to 30°C, it takes 83.6 KJ.

To melt the ice by raising the temperature by 20°C, it takes

333.55 KJ for the ice to melt + 83.6 KJ to increase the temperature by 20°C = 427.15 KJ heat.

So, you can see that 1kg needs more energy to reach temperature equal to 1kg water.
