Gold and silver do not react with hydrochloric acid.

milanpokhrel: Check out an activty series. If the element is ABOVE H in the series then it will react with HCl--however if it is BELOW H in the series it will not react.

So for example...Ni will react with HCl (above H in the series) but Cu will not react with HCl because it is below H in the series.
