Answer:A lacteal is a lymphatic capillary that absorbs dietary fats in the villi of the small intestine.

Explanation:Triglycerides are emulsified by bile and hydrolyzed by the enzyme lipase, resulting in a mixture of fatty acids, di- and monoglycerides

(i) Blood capillaries of intestinal villi absorb

  • amino acids (end products of protein digestion)
  • simple sugars (like glucose and fructose) which are the end products of carbohydrate digestion
  • water-soluble vitamins.

(ii) Lacteals (lymphatic capillaries) of villi absorb

  • dietary fats like, cholesterol, phospholipids, triglycerides, etc. in the form of chylomicrons.
  • fat-soluble vitamins like Vitamins A, D, E and K.

(The lymph in the lacteals is milky due to its high fat content and is called chyle.)
