Pyruvic acid(Pyruvate) is converted in to lactic acid(Lactate) by the enzyme Lactase dehydrogenase.

Pyruvic acid(C3H4O3) is reduced to lactic acid by the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase. In it FMN and Zinc ions are also required.
In this reduction pyruvate functions as electron acceptor.
