Which gas is called dry ice and why?

Since it never passes through the liquid phase, it's called dry ice………. Dry Ice is the common name for solid carbon dioxide (CO2). It gets this name because it does not melt into a liquid when heated; instead, it changes directly into a gas (This process isknown as sublimation).

carbon dioxide because its look like ice and because when it melts ( actually it sublimes) it goes from solid straight to gas ni liquid hence dry ice
