The name of the important latitude that crosses through India is “Tropic of Cancer.” Any city that lies to the north of “Tropic of Cancer” is never going to have the sun straight overhead.

A number of the cities not receiving straight sunlight are Kolkata, Porbandar, Bhopal, Srinagar, Jammu, Lucknow, Gangtok, Chandigarh, Shimla, etc.

There’re a couple of days in a year when the sun’s perpendicularly overhead the equator region, namely, the 21st of March and the 21st of September 21.
