Dear Student,
◆ Answer -
Basic molecule in starch is D-glucose.
● Starch -
- It is produced by most green plants as energy storage.
- It's carbohydrate polymer formed several D-glucose units in α-1,4-glycisidic linkage.
Starch polymer is made of two imp structures -
1. Amylose -
- It is unbranched polysaccharide
- Amylose is 20% of starch
- It's straight polymer with alpha-1-4 glycosidic linkage
2. Amylopectin -
- It is branched polysaccharide
- Amylopectin is 80% in starch
- It's branched polymer with alpha-1-4 & alpha-1-6 glycosidic linkage
Thanks for asking..

The basic molecule in starch is Glucose.
Explanation:
- Food is stored in the plants and animals in the form of complex compound which is known as Starch.
- Starch is a "white granular organic compound" which is formed in green plants. Its chemical formula is .
- Starch is a polysaccharide made up of glucose monomers joined at α-1,4 linkages.
- Multiple glucose monomers are linked together to form a complex polysaccharide, which in turn combine to form the molecule of starch. Thus, building unit of Starch is Glucose.
