Gold, Silver, Copper, Aluminium, Iron etc are good heat conductors as well as electrical conductors. The valence electrons in those metals are eager to trasnsfer the energy received in any form.

Silver, Aluminum, and Brass are the best conductors of heat.

  • Heat transfer occurs at a lower rate in objects of low thermal conductivity than in high thermal conductivity objects.
  • For example, metals generally have high thermal performance and are very effective at conducting heat, while the opposite is true for protective materials such as Styrofoam.
  • Correspondingly, high thermal conductivity materials are widely used in thermal insulation applications, and low thermal conductivity materials are used as thermal insulation. Reciprocal thermal conductivity is called thermal resistivity.
