Hydrogen bond :

The attractive force which binds hydrogen atom of one molecule with the electronegative atom (F,O or N) of another molecule is called Hydrogen bond.

Types of H-Bond :

  • Intermolecular H-Bond :

➝ This bond is formed between the two different molecules of the same or different compounds.

e.g., In case of HF, ROH or H₂O etc.

  • Intramolecular H-Bond :

➝ This bond is formed between hydrogen atom and an electronegative atom within the same molecule.

e.g., o-nitrophenol.
