All the following reagents are used for the conversion are as follows:

- glycol/ LiAlH₄/H₃O⁺ is used as grignard's reagent where aldehydes and ketones are treated with grignard's reagent to form an additional product which upon acidic hydrolysis gives an alcohol of higher degree.

- glycol/NaH/H₃O⁺ is used in wolf kishner's reduction where Aldehydes and ketones are treated with NaH,glycol ,they also converts aldehydes and ketones into alkane.

- LiA1H₄ is used in reduction with lithium aluminium hydride, it gives two hydrogen to aldehydes and ketones are converted into alcohols.

- NaBH₄ is used in reduction with sodium borohydride . It reduces aldehydes and ketones into alcohol.
