open grounds because lightning is likely to strike at the tallest place in an area which will be you in the case of open ground

roof of buildings because of the same reason as above

trees because of the same reason more ever though air is a bad conductor of electricity still it may become an excellent conductor in case of heavy currents which is the case in thunderstorm
