The sea level was around 100 mts below present level about 15000 years back. Only the low areas, now under the sea, would have been suitable for agriculture and growth of civilization. The present land areas would have been too cold and dry. As sea level rose, civilizations would have shifted to higher areas, which had become warmer.
The last ice age lasted between 2.6 million years to 11,700 years back. It is said that present mankind started off in present Africa, 40000 years back. It was then a cold and desolate place. Isn't the chance of this starting in better environment more, like the low lying lands, now under the sea? Did this happen before 40000 years? Many civilizations started suddenly. Were these formed by migrants from areas affected by the rising sea
