Answer:

avarage speed =total distance by total time taken

first case = speed= 20

distance = 40

time =? time = distance / speed

that is, 40/20 =2

second case speed= 10

distance = 40

time 40/10 = 4

average speed = total distance that is 40 +40 = 80 divided by 4+2 -- total time

so the answer is 80/6 km/ hr

We know that,

Average speed = Total distance / Total time

In this case the distance travelled are the same.

So, the formula must be,

Average speed = Total speed / 2

Average speed = 20 + 10 / 2 Km/hr

Average speed = 30 / 2 Km/hr

Average speed = 15.5 Km/hr

Hope this helps you, mark me brainliest if it does.

thank you
