While going from place A to B, Astha travels 40% of the distance at 12 km/hr, then travels
50% of the remaining distance at 18 km/hr to reach C. If the time taken to travel from A to C is 1.5 hours, what is the distance between A and B(in km)?

Answer:

B 12

Step-by-step explanation:

let total distance be X

40% of total distance travelled at 12 kmph

(40/100 * X)/12 is the total time taken to travel from A to B

50% of remaining distance is covered at 18 kmph

so, (50/100 ( x - 40/100 *x) )/18 is the total time taken to reach C

add both the equations to get the total time taken to travel from A to C i.e. 1.5 hrs

After simplifying: (1/30 * x) + (1/60 * x) = 1.5

x = 30

dist from A to B is 40% of total distance

so, dist = 12 km

note: I am 60% sure about this. Because the question somewhat seems incomplete.
