While traveling along a highway a driver slows from 24 m/s to 8 m/s in 8 seconds. What is the automobile’s acceleration? (Remember that a negative value indicates a slowing down or deceleration.)

{ \bf{ \underline{ \underline{Given \:  data}}}:-}

When automobile traveling along a highway :

◐ Initial velocity ( u ) = 24 m/s

◐ Final velocity ( v ) = 8 m/s

◐ Time taken ( t ) = 8 sec

◐ Acceleration ( a ) = ?

{ \bf{ \underline{ \underline{Solution}}}:-}

Now, we use formula to find acceleration ( a ) of automobile.

{ \dashrightarrow{ \bf{a \: = \frac{v - u}{t} }}}

{ \dashrightarrow{ \bf{a \: = \frac{8 - 24}{12} }}}</p><p>

{ \dashrightarrow{ \bf{a \: = - { \cancel{\frac{16}{8}}}}}}

{ \dashrightarrow{ \bf{a \: = - 2 \: m/ {s}^{2} }}}

Hence, acceleration of automobile is -2 m/s².

{Note: Negative value indicates slowing down or deceleration}
