Henry Ford of Ford Company was the first to adopt the concept of assembly line to produce automobiles. Under this concept the workers were stationed at a particular place with their tools and parts and the larger body or part would come to these workers on conveyors or some mechanized belts to the workers stations.
The purpose of Assembly lines were:
· It saved time in physical movement of people and machines.
· It reduced physical stress due to easy movement of heavy machineries.
· It made working easy.
