Anatomy was advocated by Andreas Vesalius and it involves the study of morphology of adult human. It is subdivided into gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. The study of anatomy mainly identifies and describes the structure of living things and it is normally applied in health and medicine.

Gross anatomy normally involves the study of large body parts which can be seen with an aid of a magnifying lenses while microscopic anatomy involves the study of microscopic body structures which cannot be seen in a light microscope.

The study of anatomy was started way back in Greece, long before Plato.  It was started by philosophers and Physicians. They would dissect to study the nature of the body.

And then Plato came and worked on a bit, to provide more inputs on how living bodies work.

The major study began with Aristotle providing extensive details on the functions of animal body parts.

However, father of modern anatomy is Andreas Vesalius who actually advocated the study of anatomy.
