Indian National Congress and the Muslim League reached an agreement at the joint session held in Lucknow (1916). This is called Lucknow Pact.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, took a step to pressurize the British government to give authority to Indians to run the country besides safeguarding basic Muslim demands.
Jinnah was the mastermind of this pact.
The Nightingale of India, Sarojini Naidu entitled him “the Ambassador of Hindu-Muslim Unity” because of reconciliation brought about by him between the Congress and the League.
