Who is the father of any language?If father has been queried, can mother be far behind?I think there cannot be any father or mother of a language.What is a language?A language is the principal medium of communication within a society.A language evolves constantly. Language represents a culture.Language represents ethos of a society.But language is not static.What Hindi was 1000 years ago is totally different from what it was 500 years ago or even 100 years ago.What Hindi was 50 years ago was totally different from what it is at present. To look for father/ mother is futile.But if you MUST have a name, Hindi may be said to have been derived from Sanskrit, after which it has been mixed with various foreign languages like Arabic,Persian,English etc.
