according to shylock "fawning Publication" means Antonio.

Antonio resembles very much as the humble text getherer.

He(Shylock) hates him because Antonio is a Christian where Shyock is a jew..

Shylock hates him more because of modest and sympathetic behaviour he lends money without charging any interest..

This practice of lending money without interest has affected money lenders very badly because it brings down the rate of interest and in Venice.....

hopes this helps u.... this answer is from topper answer sheet

Shylock calls Antonio a fawning publican which means flattering tax collector .

Shylock said that because he hates Antonio because Antonio lends tax without interest to the people of Venice thus bringing down the rate of interest for the people in Venice.
