Ashoka the great was the third ruler of mauryan dynasty after Bindusara. He was powerful ruler and extended the Kingdom to south and west India.

Ashoka was a maurya king .The whole of India was under him except kalinga. So, he wanted to conquer kalinga ,in doing so many people were killed and the victory instead of giving joy gave him more pain So, he became a Buddhist. He taught people about "dhamma" .
