G.V Joshi is known as Kakasaheb. His full name was Ganesh Vyankatesh Joshi. He was an Indian economist. He was born at Miraj on June 9, 1851. He served for thirty years in the Educational Department. The Mumbai Government awarded him the title of "Rao Bahadur" and also issued him an appreciatory Press Note in recognition of his valuable services during the plague epidemic at Solapur. He retired from his service by the end of March in 1907. After retirement, he lived at Poona till his death on May 20th, 1911.
