Mr. Sandy Wadgers, the blacksmith had a forge in the neighbourhood of Coach and Horses in Iping.Since he was a knowing and resourceful man, he was immediately sent for by Mrs. and Mr. Hall after the strange incidence of extraordinary behavior of Mrs. Hall’s furniture in the room tenanted by the stranger. He readily reached to help Mrs. and Mr. Hall but was reluctant to go straight into the room. As he was afraid to go inside the room where the furniture had behaved so abnormally, he wanted other villagers to gather at the inn so that they could all open the door. He accompanied Mr. Hall to Mr. Shuckleforth to take his advice as to how they should handle the aggressive, formidable, and mysterious stranger living at the inn. He was one of the many people who witnessed the drama of unveiling of the stranger. He was deeply stupefied to see the phenomenon of the stranger getting invisible. When all the people were trying to catch hold of the stranger, he was trying to get out of the room.

Mr. Sandy Wadgers is a blacksmith in the village Iping who is called at Coach and Horses Inn after Mr. Halls observes some unusual occurrence upstairs i.e. flying furniture. They believe that he is 'a knowing man and a very resourceful man.' He listens to the incidents and suspects witchcraft. He is joined by Mr. Hexter who guides others about the legally and politically right way to tackle a problem. They start a discussion as to how to solve the problem related to Griffin. Wadgers suggests Halls that they should be careful about breaking open Griffin's door.

Their stance about this incident shows that the people of the village take a long time to come to a decision as they hold different views and a trail of discussion precedes any decision.
