Shah Tahmasp was the Persian ruler who helped Humayun with 12000 troops.

Explanation :

"Humayun" was defeated by "Sher Shah Suri" and he was forced to withdraw from the "battle of Kannauj". He tried to gain control over Sindh but also failed.

This is the time when he sought the cover of Shah Tahmasp and left to Safavid in Iran where he stayed lavishly meanwhile. During his return, Tahmasp gave him 12000 horsemen and 300 arm bearers for Humayun.
