Jacobin a member of a democratic club established in Paris in 1789. The Jacobins were the most radical and ruthless of the political groups formed in the wake of the French Revolution, and in association with Robespierre they instituted the Terror of 1793–4.Robespierre goverment sought to bring equality through measures like forcing all citizens to eat equality bread( made of wholewheat). Even French men and women were called Citoyen and Citoyenne instead of traditional Monsieur and Madame. Elections were held. Key feature- All men above 21 years of age , irrespective of weath ,could vote. Newly elected assembly was called “Convention”.
