One of the most common amoebas in the world, Amoeba proteus is constantly changing its shape and color as it explores (and engulfs) its environment! ... The average life-span of an amoeba is little more than two days. But because they reproduce by dividing (or fission), amoebas are more or less immortal.

Amoeba has a lifespan of about two days. But biologically the amoebas are immortal. The reason for the answer is amoeba can multiply in the environment by the method of binary fission or fusion of the cells. As a result multiple amoebas are produced from a single amoebas cell but they all are produced asexually.

Hence the culture of amoebas cannot be studied under a constant alligation. Hence the amoeba is biologically immortal but it has a lifespan of about two days.
