Let us first recall what actually vestigial means : vestigial is a term basically used for those organs which we needed earlier but now they are not needed by us .

Appendix as we know was very useful to humans at the early stage when they used to eat raw food ( uncooked food ) . Early humans ate cellulose which was easily digested through appendix .

As you know now we don't consume such things therefore appendix is considered a vestigial organ .
