Annelids called to have true coelom:

  • A pipe like fluid-filled cavity seen in the living things, acting as a protective cushion for the situated internal organs is called a coelom.
  • A true coelom is lined up on all  the sides by a mesoderm which results in muscles that are surrounding the gut, also underlying the body wall.
  • This allows efficiency of digestion to rise because food can be pushed into the digestive tract by the muscles.

Explanation of "Annelids are known to have a true coelom":

  • Some organisms may not have a coelom or may have a false coelom (pseudocoelom).
  • Animals having coelomsare known as coelomates, and those without are known as acoelomates.
  • There are also "subtypes of coelom": schizocoelom: Matured from split in mesoderm present in annelids, arthropods and molluscs.
  • The need of a "coelom is correlated" with a "reduction in body size".
  • Few organisms may not have a "coelom" or "may have a wrong coelom" (pseudocoelom).
