Why are days longer in summer

In the summer time in the northern hemisphere, the Earth is farther from the Sun because of the ellipse in its orbit, but the angle of the Earth's tilt points the hemisphere towards the Sun, making the days longer .

You know the earth's seasons are caused by the tilt of the earth's axis. When the tilted North pole points toward the sun, the northern Hemisphere has summer. It gets more of the sun's rays... The southern hemisphere has summer, because the south pole is tipped towards the sun.
Hope its help!
