Than other animals? Because dogs are animals. Anyway, dogs are preferred because they are loyal to their owners, courageous and very good friends. If they are well trained, they can act like a best friend to you. There's a whole debate on cat vs dogs. Cat lovers do lowkey maintenance because cats don't require to be walked everyday or need to go poop outside. Its really a personal preference in the end.
