Importance of Fossils:

Fossils are considered important for evolution because they provide us with evidences as proof for evolution. They also establish evolutionary relationships by providing missing links.

Two ways by which age of fossils can be estimated:

  • Relative method: This method tells that the fossils which are closer to the earth's surface have been more recent and as we go deeper they are older.

  • Carbon Dating: Isotope of Carbon C - 14 for finding the age of the fossil.

  • Radiometric Dating: This can be done easily by testing the radioactive present in the fossils and thoroughly examining it chemically in the best way possible.
