The completely filled or completely half filled sub shell are stable due to:-
1) symmetric arrangement:-----

The electronic configuration in which all the orbitals of same sub shell are either completely filled or exactly half filled have relatively more symmetrical distribution of electrons and for lend more stability to the system.
2) Exchange energy;:-

The half filled or fuly- filled degenerate orbitals have more no.pf exchanges and consequently have large exchange energy means shifting of electrons from one orbital to another with in same sub shell.
Let us compare in 3d^4 4s^2 and 3d^5 4s^1 configuration of chromium.
The total no.of electrons exchange in 3d^5 arrangement is larger which lends it greater stabili.
