Medical waste incinerators are used in hospitals. Wastes from hospitals, veterinary and medical research i.e. all types of medical and pathological wastes are burned there at minimum operating temperature of 8500C. These wastes include both general non-infectious housekeeping waste and infectious red bag, biohazards and sharps wastes. Three types of incinerators are being used; controlled (>95%), rotary kiln (<1%) and excess air (<2%).
