IT IS OPPOSITE TO PRIME MEIDIAN ( 180 E/W) BUT ACTUALLY IT IS NOT A STRAIGHT LINE ON GLOBE. IT IS CALLED DATE LINE BECAUSE DATE CHANGES WHEN YOU CROSS IT. IT IS NOT STRAIGHT BECUSE SOME COUNTRIES ARE LYING ON THIS LINE SO TO MAKE CIVIL LIFE EASY COUNTRIES ARE KEEPING ONE DATE .
