Metals are conductors of heat. So they are good for transferring heat to help in cooking.
But if handles are also made with metals we will not be able to hold them. So handles are normally made with materials which are bad conductors of heat.

Hello,

Metals are considered as very good conductors of heat.
Metal can also resist themselves at very high temperature from getting oxidised.
Metal conduct heat at very good rate and this helps the food to be cooked early as they get sufficient amount of heat.

The handles are the place from where the utensils are carried.

The heating utensil will also supply the heat to the handle if the handle is made up of metal.

This will make it difficult for us to hold the utensil when it is hot.

Hence,
To make it convenient for us,
The handles are made up of heat insulators.
The most common material by which they are made is known as BACKELITE.

this material neither allows the heat to pass through it nor it breaks at very very very high temperature.

This is the reason why the metals are used for making cooking vessels but not their handles.

Hope this will be helping you....
