Why are satirated hydrocarbons chemiclally less reactive?​

Saturated Hydrocarbon are less reactive than unsaturated hydrocarbon because saturated hydrocarbon contains single bond. So, the intermolecular force of molecules is high and in unsaturated hydrocarbon it is vice-versa.

Saturated hydrocarbons have only sigma-bonds and thus are strong bonds and cannot undergo addition reaction easily while unsaturated hydrocarbons have pi-bonds which are weaker than sigma-bonds and thus can be easily broken. Addition reactions is more favorable for the compounds having pi-bonds.
