The Himalayas are found to be formed 'very recently' when the Indian Plate collided with the Tibetan Plate (See Plate Tectonics) during the period called Paleocene-Eocene (50 million years ago). This collision of two continental plates formed Orogens or mountains. ... Hence are called Young Fold Mountains!!

hope it helps!!

The Himalayas are called "Young fold of mountains "because they have been formed only few million years ago. They were formed because of the folding of the earth's crust due to tectonic activity.

Hope it helps.
