The mirror of cars are convex because that type of mirror gives a wide view and always forms diminished image that is why it is written on the mirror that - Objects in the mirror are more closer than they appear

convex mirror always give virtual and erect image, the image formed will be erect and inside the mirrow ,no matter where the object is placed . Also,the image formed is diminished. Thus the person gets a complete view of the surrounding .
