hello dear ❤
At end of Ashoka , there was a lot of change occuring in Indian Society. The Hindu culture was on decline and there was a strong shift towards Buddhism. Everyone was guided towards his own enlightenment and there was no responsibility towards society . This essentially contributed to crumble the Power structure that Ashoka had set up .The successors of Ashoka were meek and unproven and could not keep the vast Empire together

Hey mate!!
Your answer ➡
The nation of Magadha- modern day Bihar and Jharkhand- served as the heartland of the Mauryan Empire. After the death of Emperor Ashoka, we have evidence for a roughly decade long Civil War which appears to have significantly weakened the Empire in certain aspects- primarily by necessitating greater autonomy of regional governors.
Roughly a century after the death of the Emperor Ashoka, regional disturbances and weakening central control appear to have caused yet another period of Civil War. During this period, the governors of the Deccan and the East appear to have declared independence while the Emperor himself seems to have been assassinated by a renegade general.
