why b(oh)3 act as acid

Boric acid (H3BO3) is a very mild monoprotic acid which even does not liberate its own H+ ion but accepts it from water. ... so actually the hydrogen ions in the boric acid which give it its acidic character actually come from water since the hydroxide is absorbed by the B[OH]3 molecule...
