Why is a flame shaped like a flame? I.e. tear shaped
convectional currents.
As flame burns it uses up oxygen and rises due to heat., hence flame is upward.
but cooler air rushes in to fill the rising hot air.,hence the shape of flame tends to be aerodynamic i.e tear shaped.
the tear shape of water droplet is also due to gravity and aerodynamic drag.
but the same flame when burned in zero gravity tends to be spherical in shape.
