Why crystalline sodium chloride is a bad conductor of electricity?

crystalline sodium chloride is a bad conductor of electricity, bcoz the ions present in it are not able to move freely. Movement of ions or electrons experience in conducting electricity. So crystalline sodium chloride, it can't conduct electricity.

crystalline sodium chloride is a bad conductor of electricity because the electrons cannot flow easily  as the electricity is flow of electrons the electrons should be in their free state 
therefore crystalline sodium chloride is a bad conductor of electricity
