Decomposers are very important for the functioning of an ecosystem,
After the death of any living organism, the decomposers breakdown the cells of the body and decompose it. This in turn helps the plants to acquire nutrients from the soil which helps them to grow. They eventually convert all organic matter into carbon dioxide which is also essential for the growth of the plants. They also help in cleaning the environment till some extent. Ecosystems do not waste energy or materials, and as such, the decomposers capitalize on any remaining energy in a dead organism and make the minerals available to the entire biome.
